Event Descriptions:

Enrichment Events:
Enrichment events are designed to offer advanced learning opportunities for gifted learners. These events give gifted and talented learners an opportunity to think, learn, and socialize with others who have similar interests and abilities.  The goal of enrichment events is to provide opportunities for learning beyond that which is taking place in regular classroom environments on a variety of subjects including art, science, math, literature, and leadership, among others.

Parent Workshops:

Parent workshops are educational presentations, usually featuring a guest speaker or panel of speakers, on a variety of topics concerning gifted and talented children.  Parents have the opportunity to network and "talk story" with other parents who face similar challenges raising precocious children.  We hope to offer at least four parent workshops a year.  Parents, educators, and other professionals interested in gifted and talented topics are welcome to attend.  Workshops are generally free; however, donations are appreciated to help cover the costs involved.  Reservations are also requested, but not necessary; walk-ins welcome!

Social Events:
Socail events allow gifted learners an opportunity to mingle with intellectual peers.  Also, parents have an opportunity to socialize with other parents who may be facing similiar challenges.

Speaking Engagements:
The HGA is available to speak at school and community events throughout the state including parent meetings and teacher in-service days at schools or other organizations who have an interest in gifted and talented topics.

State Conference:
The State Conference is an annual conference co-hosted by the HGA, State Advisory Council for Gifted and Talented (SACGT) and the Department of Education (DOE).  The Conference is generally held on a Saturday in January and features a national speaker in the morning, a morning break-out session, lunch, and afternoon break-out session.  Parents, educators, and other professionals with an interest in gifted and talented issues are welcome to attend.  An enrollment fee is required.
